Albert Einstein once attended a premiere of City Lights, one of Charlie Chaplin’s greatest and most underrated films. There is where he meet Chaplin who said the following, which best describes science and entertainment :

Which my small overly excited brain interpreted it as: “Ohh yes I got the tickets!”, but that only lasted for a couple of days when I got the email from HatTrick saying they ran out of tickets, to which my broken heart said: “Bollocks!”.

So now I have the last day free and need to find some show/concert/activity to fill it with, if you have any suggestions do leave them in the comments, I would appreciate it very much!

Besides the lovely comedy, sports and music shows I will also be going to the Ritz for afternoon tea, its a little treat since I’ve never been and hopefully having lunch at a Jamie Oliver’s restaurant just so I can compare it to Gordon Ramsey’s. We’ve been to one of Gordon restaurants last year and didn’t go all that well, I found a small snail, or a worm not sure, in the salad and well that somehow ruined the experience of paying far too much for a meal and then finding the wrong kind of meat in your meal. Although I must say the staff were very nice and replaced the dish and even gave us some chocolate and the food wasn’t bad at all, guess the snail/worm like creature was an added bonus!:D

So London it is in December, lets hope the plans stay the way they are and things should be great! Any suggestions of things to do in London would be appreciated also planning a quick visit to the country side so any ideas on that are also welcome.

I managed to get tickets for Have I got news for you, thanks to a very nice person, so now the London trip should be perfect indeed! And HatTrick are the nicest production company around!

So I ran away, as the song says…

The first episode I listened to was about 3 years ago and hardly understood any of the jokes.When you listen to “clue” you step into another world, a world where Samantha and Sven live, a world filled with double entoundres so obvious ones it hurts but makes you laugh none the less, a world where a grumpy old man is in charge.Strangely its a perfect world for me somehow it combines extremely talented comedians with dry wit of the (former) chairman!But to get back to the first time I heard the show, I had no idea what was going on in Mornington Crescent, now I am a natural at that game!Hardly understood any of the numerous puns but I somehow stuck with the show, listened to another episode, understood why everyone was laughing at Samantha, listened to another and got some of the puns.With other Uxbridge English definitions I needed some help so I tweeted at Stephen Fry the following question,since he was the one who said the joke on the show:


Incidentally that was the first of many, well many for me, tweet reply I got from the sweetest man on twitter!

Where was I,ohh yes talking about clue or ISIHAC as it is also known.So once I jumped into the whole wide world of clue I was hooked.So a bit of history of the show would be nice when trying to describe a show.Clue actually derives from another similarly named radio show entitled I’m Sorry, I’ll Read That Again staring among others John Cleese, who also replied to me on twitter okay will stop now,can I?Did I mention he replied twice?Yes okay back to the topic of the blog post…Anyways the stars of ISIRTA Greame Garden, Tim Brooke Taylor,etc were sick of writing sketches and thought why not improvise a radio show.So thats how I’m sorry I haven’t a clue got started.When selecting a chairman they naturally thought of an old Etonian guardsman, trumpet playing calligraphist so they chose Humphrey Lyttelton of course.And they honestly couldn’t have chosen anyone better.

Humph as Mr.Lyttelton was affectionately known, was one of the best non comedians but I could go on about him for ages but let him show you how great he is indeed.This is Humph just a couple of month before his untimely death:

His words might have been scripted but he always managed to add that special touch to the jokes,something that all of this years guest host of I’m sorry I haven’t a clue failed.Not even the great Stephen Fry could step into the large shoes of Humph, nor could Rob Brydon or Jack Dee.They all tried but it was clear they had too much respect for the man!
My favorite panelists are and will always be the original team.Barry Cryer, Greame Garden, Tim Broke Taylor and another late and great man Willie Rushton.Paul Merton, Jeremy Hardy, Stephen Fry just to name a few have all appeared as panelists on the show and did a brilliant job at it but nothing better then listening to the original team doing what they do best!Be it wining at Mornington Creascent, flirting with Samantha or Swen, managing to get away with terrible yet brilliant jokes.Here is an example of one of the 1993 shows.Click on part two and three if you enjoy part one!;)

I hope this post made no sense at all!The show makes no sense at all and thats the point of it, the point of the show is for a person to get lost for 30 minutes in a new world and to forget all your troubles and just relax with 5 great comedians talking about people who don’t exist, sorry Samantha, playing Mornington Crescent like it was a real game and singing out of tune.The show is truly an antidote to panel games in a way that the points don’t matter and everyone is silly for 30 minutes.And that is what everyone needs, 30 minutes of silliness a day, because life is always taken too seriously!So hope you listen to the show, hope it makes no sense and hope most importantly it makes you smile!
p.s.IF you like the sound of the show then go out and buy ISIHAC Live, its simply too good to describe!

Please note I didn’t use flash photography therefor the quality may not be the best.I think its brilliant we are allowed to take photos in most Paris museums, as opposed to London where photography is strictly dissolved, so to use flash, which tends to damage artwork over time, is stupid!

Was glad to see the Mona Lisa and many more paintings in the Louvre but was not as impressed with the museum as I was with D’Orsay.Maybe its because the D’Orsay has more paintings by Van Gogh or because its much smaller and provides a intimate setting for art watching.So here are a couple of paitings that will be with in mind for a long time!

I adore van Gogh!

After I spent a nice amount of money on souvenirs that was it for my art tour of Paris. Being under 26 and from a EU country we had free passes to both of the museums which was brilliant.Highly recommend D’Orsay for all art fans, but a small warning to people who might have vertigo problems, that includes me, there is a huge stairway s, its very high up and not very pleasant to walk on, you can see underneath it made me very dizzy.I only managed because I knew there were a lot of paintings waiting upstairs!:)
