An Apple a day keeps Windows away…

Couple of months ago I bought my first macbook, previously I owned a nice lenovo laptop and before that a couple of desktop PCs.My main OS until now was mostly Windows, ranging from windows 95 and up to the infamous vista.I’ve used Linux from time to time, mostly Ubuntu and sometimes Fedora. So this is a small review of the macbook, my thoughts on the product I recently purchased.
My new laptop is a macbook pro with a 15 inch display, 2GB of memory and the Intel core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz processor and a nice 250GB of storage. It all sounds perfect on paper!Since most people that buy a macbook, or even any other apple products, talk about the great stuff it has to offer here is the opposite, the things I don’t like about it and maybe will sneak in a couple of details I do love about MB pro!

"Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from god."

As the tittle, which is a quote from Kurt Vonnegut, implies I off to do some dancing no I meant traveling, yes traveling.Going to Paris on the 13th of this month. How we decided on Paris I do not know but that’s where we are going. This past year I’ve done more traveling then anytime in my life! Its mostly been great but at times very horrible indeed. But that’s life I guess.

Been to London a year ago, seen Safin and Nadal play live should have been the best moment of the trip, but no my favorite memory is seeing Paul Merton and other Comedy store players perform live and then getting an autograph from the great man himself was pure bliss!London overall was brilliant and going there in December my favorite city which I visited so far!

Then went to Serbia in August and spend two days reliving my childhood that was full of mixed feelings. And then the grand finale, went to Sochi in Russia. Its like you are transformed through a Stargate, (okay so it was an old Russian plane which barely could fly) to a different universe. The people are the opposite of the British or indeed the Serbians! The rudest, most arrogant, cold bunch of people I have ever encountered in my life! You first find this out when you land and are “greeted” by the the ohh so very friendly people at the customs. One tip for anyone traveling to Russia do not become ill there, unless you want to be not so pleasantly surprised by the horrible conditions at their hospitals! And if you are sick just remember to bribe a lot of doctors! But lets talk about nicer things, I’m sure I can find some nice things, give me an hour or two to think…Well I did learn to play tennis, visited some ex KGB type hospital which was amazing it had the best possible doctors and instruments! What else ohh yes a bomb blew up (info), we went to the Caucasus mountains and yes the overall experience of Russia did fell like I was Prometheus in the Caucasus mountains!

So now Paris.I am a huge fan of art and I simply adore Leonardo da Vinci, so if I see the Mona Lisa (yes I know its a tiny painting!) I will be in a blissful state for the rest of my life!I’m also a history buff so being there during the Bastille Day should be a lot of fun for me!Now I’m not expecting another revolution whilst there, but the way things are going lately with the recession I wouldn’t be surprised!Going to places like Versailles, seeing the paintings of the truly great artists and trotting around Paris where the kings, artists and millions people wandered about, that’s what I’m looking forward to most!So au revoir from me!

I am a feminist…or am I really?

feminist

  1. A person who supports the equality of women with men.
  2. A member of a feminist political movement.
  3. One who believes in the social, political, and economical equality of the sexes

Of course I support the equality of the sexes!I also think women are still underrated, unheard and not loud enough! We tend to fight for the wrong things. There is still not enough women in politics, science, comedy and many other male dominated fields! There is a black president of USA but somehow doubt there ever will be a women president in the near future. The thought scares people, both male and female for some reason!

It all went downhill from Emmeline and Sylvia Pankhurst time, we got the vote and now we don’t need much,or at least we think don’t.But we do!We need equal rights in all fields and we still don’t have them.We may have the rights on paper but do we really in reality. In my field, which is computer science,I really can’t find a true role model apart from Ada Lovelace and shes been dead for over 150 years! She was,for those of you who don’t know, the first computer programmer! And since then you can’t really name any woman that is well known in computer science,a woman that achieved what Jobs and Gates did.

When it comes to politics of course there is/was Margaret Thatcher, Hilary Clinton, Indira Gandhi, just to name a few powerful women who shaped and helped change our world for better or for worse, but still I think there were not or indeed are not enough powerful women in politics! They always tend to lose they femininity and their grace. In the case of Maggie and Clinton, cold seems to be word on every ones lips, not that male politicians are joyful and heartwarming but somehow it shows more with female politicians.

I may be a feminist but I still like to spend an hour getting ready to go out and see nothing wrong with that!Looking good, putting on make up and dressing nice makes me more strong and not the opposite as some may think!I’m not trying to look good so that men will look at me I’m trying to look good so I feel good about myself. Why feminists are always stereotyped as old hairy free of make up women I really don’t know!

So modern feminism does it still exists, well it certainly isn’t as strong as it was in Emmeline Pankhurst time!Which is wrong because we still have a lot to fight for, in the Western world and even more in the the rest of the world. But one of the things we shouldn’t fight for is equal pay for women in tennis!I’m sorry to say but both of the Williams sister combined didn’t work as hard as Federer or Rodick in this years Wimbledon and yet they got the same amount of money! If you want the same money you have to do something for that money, you can’t expect to get 884 pounds per minute of play whereas the men get half as much, surely that’s the opposite of what feminism is, its not equallity of the sexes!

We must choose our battles and never shut up is what I’m trying to say!Far too many women today don’t stand up for themselves and bow down to men despite the fact they may know more.Never be afraid to speak out even if you are wrong is my advice, men have been doing that for years, with enough confidence everyone will believe you.
