Weekly quote 2 – Science & Entertainment
This weeks quote comes from the greatest entertainer who ever lived speaking to the greatest scientist who ever lived. I’m of course talking about Charlie Chaplin, director, composer, actor, comedian, etc and Albert Einstein, Nobel award winning theoretical physicist. Two such different people, each brilliant in their own fields, both shaped the world and influenced so many people.
Albert Einstein once attended a premiere of City Lights, one of Charlie Chaplin’s greatest and most underrated films. There is where he meet Chaplin who said the following, which best describes science and entertainment :
“They cheer me because they understand me,
they cheer you because no one understands you.”

London calling

Planing a trip to London this December for 8 days. I’ve been to London twice before so it won’t be that much of sightseeing. I’ve planned a perfect schedule including watching tennis legends at the Albert Hall, going to the Comedy store to see the players perform, go and laugh at Jeremy Hardy stand up, listen to Rufus Wainright, Martha and their mum sing the the Albert Hall and to top it all a perfect last evening going to the recording of Have I got news for you.
Got tickets to everything and nearly got the tickets for Have I got news for you, waited for 3pm went to the HatTrick website clicked on get tickets and got a lovely email saying:
Thank you for applying for tickets for Have I Got News For You (Show 8), on Thursday, 10 December 2009 at 18:45, recording at The London Studios.
You will receive an email shortly informing you if your ticket application has been successful in the next few days.
Which my small overly excited brain interpreted it as: “Ohh yes I got the tickets!”, but that only lasted for a couple of days when I got the email from HatTrick saying they ran out of tickets, to which my broken heart said: “Bollocks!”.
So now I have the last day free and need to find some show/concert/activity to fill it with, if you have any suggestions do leave them in the comments, I would appreciate it very much!
Besides the lovely comedy, sports and music shows I will also be going to the Ritz for afternoon tea, its a little treat since I’ve never been and hopefully having lunch at a Jamie Oliver’s restaurant just so I can compare it to Gordon Ramsey’s. We’ve been to one of Gordon restaurants last year and didn’t go all that well, I found a small snail, or a worm not sure, in the salad and well that somehow ruined the experience of paying far too much for a meal and then finding the wrong kind of meat in your meal. Although I must say the staff were very nice and replaced the dish and even gave us some chocolate and the food wasn’t bad at all, guess the snail/worm like creature was an added bonus!:D
So London it is in December, lets hope the plans stay the way they are and things should be great! Any suggestions of things to do in London would be appreciated also planning a quick visit to the country side so any ideas on that are also welcome.
Edited:
I managed to get tickets for Have I got news for you, thanks to a very nice person, so now the London trip should be perfect indeed! And HatTrick are the nicest production company around!
Weekly quote 1 – Neil deGrasse Tyson
I have been collecting quotes for a long time, my collection isn’t huge but it consists of only the quotes that inspire me or make me laugh, preferably both! The authors range from deep thoughts of Bertrand Russell to Willie Rushtons puns. This is the first post in a hopefully series of weekly quotes from my collection.
First qoute that inspired me comes from the American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson who is like the real life version of Dr. Rodney McKay and it is the following:
“We are in the universe…but also the universe is in us.”

Slave to the Wage
A couple of months ago I accepted a promotion at work. The pay cheque increased only slightly but the workload tripled to say the least, and so have the responsibilities.
With all of these new things I have been given at work and university exams coming up, my nerves and mood changed from being always cheerful and making others feel good, to being a grumpy bitch. It was clearly too much for me,working from 8am until 4pm or from 2.30pm to 10pm many times without any breaks for lunch and sometimes for 16 hours straight.I promised myself one thing a long time ago, that my job whatever that may be in the future will not affect or alter my mood, personality, basically will not change me in any way!No amount of money is worth ones happiness or indeed is not worth the misery it comes with.Life is not about money, it may play a huge part in it but it does not make my world go around! What is important to me is happiness, and before I took the promotion my job did make me happy, I went to work with a smile on my face and came back home tired but still had that same smile. And since I am studying to hopefully one day work in computer science field and my current job is in sales I have no huge ambitions for promotion and can’t even remember why I took the promotion in the first place.
Yesterday was my last day as a bitchy “manager” and from tuesday on I will only be a part time worker at the same job and a part time student so my smile is back I am happy to report.
So I ran away, as the song says…
I'm sorry I haven't a clue what this post is about…
This and many others posts, so don’t say you weren’t warned, will be about comedy, more specifically my favorite comedy shows, films, radio programs, panel news quizzes, etc First one is about my favorite comedy related show of all times and it is I’m sorry I haven’t a clue!Posts will contain random ramblings, as usual, but also a short history a couple of clips and photos.

J'adore art
The only thing I really enjoyed immensely in Paris was the vast art it offers.Don’t get me wrong Paris is a lovely, very expensive city, to visit. As an huge art fan, to the sadness of my fellow traveler, I spent a nice amount of time in the Louvre and D’Orsay. Here are some photos from the before mentioned museums.
Please note I didn’t use flash photography therefor the quality may not be the best.I think its brilliant we are allowed to take photos in most Paris museums, as opposed to London where photography is strictly dissolved, so to use flash, which tends to damage artwork over time, is stupid!
